Webinar (Live) Event

Developmentally vulnerable children and families in Children’s and Family Court matters

Overview

The College of Educational and Developmental Psychology (Victorian branch) is delighted to invite you to attend this important and informative professional development opportunity.

Developmentally complex children and families in Children’s and Family Court matters are a highly vulnerable population. Each family system carries unique layers of complexity that can be difficult to disentangle, making it challenging to identify and provide the most effective supports for both children and caregivers. Often, these circumstances are shaped by an interwoven history of intergenerational and social issues, which necessitates a sensitive, comprehensive assessment process and a considered and collaborative therapeutic approach.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this event:

  1. Participants will develop greater confidence around supporting developmentally complex children and families in children’s and family court matters.
  2. Participants will develop an understanding of the risk factors pertaining to child maltreatment and parenting capacity.
  3. Participants will develop a greater understanding of the impact of adversity, trauma, and systemic challenges on child development and a family system.
