Webinar (Live) Event

From burnout to breakthrough: Build a bot

Organiser Banner

Overview

This webinar introduces psychologists to the practical and ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) assistants within psychological practice. The session focuses on how clinicians can safely create and customise simple AI “bots” to support everyday administrative and professional tasks such as drafting GP letters, managing client communications, and organising case material while remaining compliant with APS and AHPRA guidelines.

Participants will gain a clear understanding of what AI tools can and cannot do within therapeutic and administrative contexts, and how to maintain client privacy, informed consent, and professional judgment when using digital systems.

Through practical demonstrations and guided reflection, attendees will learn a step-by-step framework for designing their own secure, purpose-built AI assistant. The session aims to help psychologists reduce cognitive and administrative load, enhance efficiency, and promote sustainable, ethical practice — aligning with the SPARKS+ approach to professional wellbeing and burnout prevention.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of these webinars, participants should be able to:

  • identify the ethical, privacy, and professional standards relevant to using artificial intelligence (AI) tools in psychological practice, consistent with APS and AHPRA guidelines,

  • apply a structured, evidence-informed process to design and implement a simple AI assistant (chatbot) that automates routine or administrative tasks safely and effectively within their professional role, and

  • evaluate how automation and AI tools can support sustainable, reflective practice by reducing administrative burden, preserving therapeutic presence, and preventing clinician burnout in line with the SPARKS+ framework.
