This year's theme is “Celebrating the impact of psychology in our communities.”
The theme invites APS members to share stories, reflections and activities that highlight the many ways psychology contributes to individual and community wellbeing across Australia.
Psychology Week 2025 also offers an opportunity to promote the breadth of the profession and increase public understanding of how psychologists support people in everyday life - through practice, research, education, supervision, and advocacy.
About Psychology Week
Psychology Week is an annual initiative of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), designed to increase awareness of psychology and the role of the APS.
It’s a flexible, member-led opportunity to highlight how psychology contributes to the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities. We encourage APS members to celebrate in ways that are meaningful to them — whether that’s sparking a conversation, sharing a personal reflection, or hosting a low-key activity in their workplace or community.
Simple Ways to Take Part
- Start a conversation: Use a Psychology Week prompt in your meeting, peer supervision, student group, or classroom. It can be as simple as asking, “Where have we seen psychology make a difference this year?”
- Share a post: On PsyCommunity, or other social media platforms, post a short reflection, photo or video on social media using #PsychWeek2025 showing how psychology is making an impact where you are.
- Host a low-key activity: Organise a morning tea, internal reflection, or short presentation to highlight your contribution to community wellbeing. Keep it simple and relevant to your context.
