CPD requirements of the Psychology Board of Australia

All registered psychologists are responsible for ensuring they maintain, enhance and extend their knowledge and skills throughout their working lives. Annual CPD requirements apply to all registered psychologists, except those with provisional or non-practising registration.

A requirement for annual registration renewal is CPD completion in accordance with the Board’s CPD standards.

For further information on the CPD standard and associated guidelines visit the Board website  https://www.psychologyboard.gov.au/

CPD requirements for APS members

The APS has largely aligned the APS CPD requirements with those specified by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) for members who are registered psychologists. This principle has been adopted to minimise the confusion and duplication that would result if members had to meet two different sets of requirements for maintenance of registration and APS membership.

In addition, the APS recognises any pro rata or exemption arrangement for individual practitioners granted by the PsyBA.

The CPD requirements for APS members who do not hold registration are less prescriptive.

Annual CPD cycles

All CPD requirements must be completed within an annual cycle, and must be met again for each subsequent annual cycle. The PsyBA and APS annual cycles begin on 1 December and end on 30 November of the following year.

CPD online logging tool

The APS has a sophisticated online CPD logging system that provides an easy-to-use tool which can be individualised to track progress towards meeting the applicable CPD requirements.

The CPD logging system has been designed to assist members to meet their CPD requirements through a streamlined system that enables online documentation and self-monitoring of all the required components of CPD that are applicable to your individual circumstances.

The individualised system enables you to easily log CPD activities, identify when you have met the various CPD requirements, and to generate and print off a professional CPD report that can be provided as evidence of compliance if you are selected for a random audit by the PsyBA.
