Do I need to be registered as a psychologist to apply for membership with the APS?

No. Membership of the APS and registration as a psychologist in Australia are two distinct processes. You do not need to be registered as a psychologist in Australia to hold membership with the APS.

The Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) determines the requirements for registration.

Once I become a member of the APS, do I automatically obtain professional indemnity insurance with Aon?

No. To access discounted professional indemnity insurance with Aon you need to contact Aon directly and provide them with your APS member number.

I have just finished my Masters but have not been awarded the degree. Can I apply for the grade of Member?

Possibly. You need to provide an official academic transcript which shows proof of completion or that you have met all the degree requirements. The APS only recognises completed qualifications.

You may wish to apply for the grade of Associate Member and then upgrade to Member once you obtain an official academic transcript from the university which states proof of completion.
