APS Branch
Overview
As psychology practice evolves, so do the expectations placed on practitioners. With the updated psychology competencies coming into effect on 1 December 2025, now is the perfect time to reflect, adapt, and share.
Join us for a collaborative workshop where all local Great Southern Psychologists will come together to exchange strategies, resources, and ideas to align their practice with the new standards — in a way that is practical, meaningful, and sustainable.
This peer-led, workshop-style session is designed to support psychologists in reflecting on and sharing how they are currently meeting, evidencing, and staying up to date with evolving competencies. Emphasis will be placed on application in diverse professional contexts, including private practice, organisational roles, community services, and academic settings.
Key Themes and Workshop Features:
- APS Member Spotlights: Local APS members will be invited to briefly share insights and resources from their areas of special interest including:
- Working with diverse client groups and maintaining cultural safety
- Navigating digital competencies (e.g., ethical issues surrounding use of AI in practice)
- Addressing unconscious bias in a measurable and sustainable way
- Evidence-based approaches to maintaining psychologist self-care
- Resource Exchange: Attendees are encouraged to bring and share their go-to resources for staying informed and competent in key areas of practice.
- Self-Assessment tool: Review and complete the AHPRA self-assessment tool for updated registration competencies.
