Overview
Complete this course to become an APS/ASA certified CBTi practitioner, providing the most effective, evidence-based treatment for insomnia.
You will access detailed training and a session-by-session manual. Upon successful completion, you will be issued a badge and have the option to be included in the ASA’s register indicating to clients and referring general practitioners, that you are able to treat chronic insomnia, a condition that affects approximately 15% of Australian adults (Sleep Health Foundation).
- Insomnia is an eligible condition for management through the Better Access scheme.
- Best practice stipulates that chronic insomnia be treated immediately upon detection. It is considered a primary diagnosis, with a bi-directional relationship to depression and other conditions.
- Insomnia is defined according to self-reported symptoms. No overnight sleep study or monitor is required.
Improving access to CBTi requires raising awareness of its effectiveness and increasing the number of trained clinicians (Ree et al., 2017).
