Overview

If AHPRA, a regulator, an employer, an insurer, or a client asked tomorrow for evidence of your AI governance, what would you actually be able to provide?

This practical, implementation-focused workshop will help psychologists translate professional obligations concerning artificial intelligence into defensible policies, procedures, and records. Participants will examine how common AI uses can be classified according to clinical risk, how AHPRA obligations and responsible AI governance apply in practice, and when increasingly capable transcription and documentation tools may begin to raise clinical decision-support or regulatory questions.

Using contemporary clinical AI tools as worked examples, participants will begin developing an AI Acceptable Use Policy, an AI tool register, and an evidence trail for AI-assisted work. The emphasis will be on producing governance arrangements that can be clearly explained, documented, and defended if later questioned.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:

• classify common AI uses across five levels of clinical risk;
• explain how professional obligations, responsible AI governance, and clinical records interact; distinguish documentation support from clinical drafting, interpretation, and decision support;
• create a defensible tool-register entry for clinical AI systems;
• draft policy clauses addressing consent, human review, retention, audit trails, bias, and contestability; and
• identify the evidence their practice would need to produce if its use of AI were questioned.

Dr. Oliver Guidetti

About the presenter(s)

Dr. Oliver Guidetti is a cyber psychology and AI Human Teaming researcher. He focusses primarily on applied industry driven avenues of research and mental health. His academic background spans mathematics, psychology, and artificial intelligence, and he has collaborated with universities, government bodies, and industry partners to enhance digital resilience and cognitive performance. He is currently working with the University of Wollongong as a lecturer in Psychology.
