Foundations in trauma: Perinatal trauma

Organiser Banner

Overview

In Australia, up to one-third of birthing parents are affected by perinatal trauma, not to mention non-birthing parents, fathers, and those who witness a traumatic birth. This course has been specifically designed for psychologists seeking to deepen their understanding and enhance their skills in the area of perinatal trauma, and you play a vital role in identifying, understanding, and treating the complex spectrum of trauma that can arise from pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal journey.

As you progress through this activity, you will be equipped with knowledge, tools, and resources that will help you better understand perinatal trauma and assist you in providing the compassionate care and support that birthing parents, their partners, and families critically need.
Note: This activity features recordings of select sessions from the 2021 APS Members' Choice Virtual Symposium Unpacking Trauma.

This is the second activity in the series and builds on knowledge and skills acquired from completing Foundations in trauma.
