APS College
Overview
These days teams come in all shapes and sizes, working in environments of increasing pressure, complexity and uncertainty. The good news is that organisational psychology practitioners have tools and approaches to help teams in all types of circumstances.
This session is an opportunity to explore common team challenges and potential interventions. It will be especially beneficial for practitioners who are already working with teams and can bring their own experiences in team interventions and preferred tools to share with peers. The session is designed as an interactive learning experiential activity, not a lecture.
Schedule:
5:30pm start (drinks and networking)
6.00-7:30pm: CPD session.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending this session, participants will be:
- Updated on what’s available and useful from organisational psychology and related disciplines to draw on when working with teams
- More knowledgeable about team intervention techniques and tools
- Better equipped to diagnose team situations and identify suitable pathways and relevant tools/solutions to propose to a client
- Able to leverage insights from peers' experiences and reflect on own work with teams to help them be more effective.

Sean Connaughton is an Organisational Psychologist and Director at Vantum Leadership. The most important challenges society faces today must be addressed by collectives. Sean coaches leadership teams to do this well, most often when moving forward means changing old habits, beliefs, and ideals.
Sean's conviction is that the work belongs to the leaders, not the consultant. His approach is grounded in how people create, relate, and act within complex adaptive systems and helps leaders navigate the adaptive work of culture change, team performance, and strategy.
Sean is also a faculty member in the Master of Psychology (Organisational) program at Deakin University, where he teaches leadership and change, and researches how leaders navigate uncertainty.
