Overview
This eLearning activity has been designed to provide provisional psychologists with a clear, structured and supportive pathway in preparing for the National Psychology Exam (NPE).
It also provides supervisors with practical tools and strategies to guide their supervisees effectively through the preparation process.
The NPE is a significant milestone towards full registration as a psychologist in Australia and is used by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) to assess whether candidates for General Registration have the applied knowledge and competence expected after completing fifth- and sixth-year psychology training. It ensures that psychologists entering the profession meet a consistent standard of applied knowledge, ethical awareness, and professional competence.
It tests knowledge and applied competence across four key domains:
- Ethics,
- Assessment,
- Intervention, and
- Communication.
This activity focuses not only on building technical expertise, but also on developing critical thinking, professional judgment, and exam readiness. A practice exam is also included as part of this activity which is time limited.
The activity will take an estimated 10 hours of ‘chair time’ to complete.
