Navigating Intersectionality in Practice: Understanding Positionality and Lived Experience

Overview

This webinar presents a dynamic framework for understanding intersectionality and its profound influence on both clients and practitioners—particularly through the lens of positionality. We will delve into the lived experiences of individuals navigating hidden disabilities, mental health challenges, and youth-specific issues, highlighting how these intersect with systemic and structural barriers. Participants will gain insights into how these factors shape engagement, access, and outcomes in intervention and program delivery, and explore strategies for fostering inclusive, responsive practice.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the complexities of families and individuals experiencing intersecting conditions or situations
  • Greater awareness around how these conditions interact with the systems within which people have to navigate
  • Develop greater insight around how to incorporate inclusivity into their practices
