Webinar (Live) Event

Own Your Life Story: Life Framing for Culturally Responsive Practice and Therapy

Overview

The Psychology and Cultures Interest Group invites you to a webinar introducing Life Framing, an evidence-informed process from Dr Lidia Lae’s new book, Own Your Life Story. You will see how StoriCompass™ (story mapping) and CulturAlign™ (cultural identity blueprint) support collaborative meaning making, values alignment, and behaviour change, strengthening psychologists’ self-reflection, cultural humility, and day to day therapy across contexts and cultures. This session deepens your understanding of identity as a life story and builds your cultural competency knowledge and skills. You will learn how to protect cultural safety and adapt evidence-based interventions for clients from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

Please note: If you experience any technical issues, please contact Dr Alice Bercean.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the four moves of Life Framing and how StoriCompass™ and CulturAlign™ strengthen reflective practice and culturally responsive care across presentations.
  • Elicit cultural contexts, values, roles, and identities using a brief micro inquiry, without pathologising culture.
  • Identify a client’s ‘story loop’ and co-design a values aligned treatment plan grounded in culturally responsive work.
