Join us for an immersive one-day workshop on Chairwork Psychotherapy, an experiential and versatile therapeutic technique that transcends diagnostic boundaries and can be integrated into various treatment disciplines. This workshop is tailored for clinical psychologists and mental health professionals who are keen to enhance their therapeutic toolkit with practical, hands-on experience in Chairwork. Participants will learn to facilitate decision-making processes and articulate different parts of the self, empowering patients to navigate their inner conflicts and achieve greater psychological flexibility.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand the Fundamentals of Chairwork Psychotherapy:
- Have a basic theoretical understanding of the historical development of Chairwork as a therapeutic technique.
- Recognise the transdiagnostic applicability of Chairwork across various mental health conditions and treatment disciplines.
- Facilitate Experiential Chairwork Sessions:
- Conduct Chairwork exercises that allow patients to conduct meaningful dialogue with different parts of themselves.
- Use Chairwork to help patients explore and resolve internal conflicts and enhance their decision-making capabilities.
- Integrate Chairwork into Existing Therapeutic Practices:
- Adapt Chairwork techniques to complement and enhance other therapeutic modalities such as CBT, ACT, and psychodynamic therapy.
- Develop personalised Chairwork interventions tailored to individual patient needs and treatment goals.
- Enhance Patient Engagement and Insight:
- Employ Chairwork to foster deeper patient engagement and insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
- Use Chairwork to facilitate emotional expression and processing, promoting psychological healing and growth.
- Practical Application and Skill Development:
- Participate in role-playing and live demonstrations to practice and refine Chairwork techniques.
- Receive feedback and guidance on the effective implementation of Chairwork in clinical settings.

Dr. Ozgur Yalcin
About the presenter(s)
Dr. Ozgur (Oz) Yalcin is a clinical psychologist and the director of ANIMA Health Network, a clinical and neuropsychology practice in Western Australia. He has held the position of WA State Chair of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists and is actively involved in academia, research, and supervision. Additionally, He is a passionate advocate for individuals with ADHD, drawing on his own lived experience. He has been invited to participate in podcasts and talks where he discusses these topics and shares his personal experiences with ADHD as a mental health professional.
His clinical expertise lies in neurodevelopmental disorders and trauma-based mental health conditions, including personality disorders, PTSD/cPTSD, and adult ADHD. He employs evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as EMDR, Schema Therapy, and Chairwork psychotherapy within a psychodynamic framework.
Dr. Yalcin has made significant contributions to the field through his research and publications. His work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, covering neurosciences, psychometric assessment, and Schema Therapy. Notably, he developed the YSQ-R, an internationally used questionnaire for assessing early maladaptive schemas in schema therapy.
Currently, Dr. Yalcin is an adjunct research fellow at the EnAble Institute, Curtin University and was recently recognised for his contributions to the field
