APS College
Overview
The College of Clinical Psychologists (Victorian State Branch) is delighted to invite you to the event AI in Clinical Psychology: From digital note takers, chat bots to AI assisted report writing.
The use of AI in Clinical Psychology has evolved exponentially in recent years. At its core, AI can increase efficiency and reduced administrative burden, aid in consistency and reduction of clinician bias in some assessments and enhance clinical insights from large datasets. There are however risks, ethical considerations and at times reluctance by practitioners to adopt these methods.
This webinar will explore how emerging AI technologies are transforming clinical practice, assessment and treatment within psychology. The webinar will discuss current applications, potential benefits, risks, ethical considerations, and the future role of AI‑assisted tools in supporting effective, evidence‑based mental health care.
This webinar will involve a panel discussion with the experts in the provision of AI Psychology tools; Sally-Anne McCormick (Founder and CEO ANSTA), Dr. Ben Condon (Clinical Director – Heidi) and Dr Ben Buchanan (Co-founder and CEO NovoPsych). The webinar will explore how AI is currently being used across different stages of clinical practice, including documentation and note taking, assessment and psychometric tools, report writing, symptom monitoring, and AI-assisted systems designed to support clients between sessions with clinician visibility and review.
It will also discuss the risks, limitations and ethical issues, including privacy, confidentiality, and data security, together with appropriate compliance with the AHPRA Code of Conduct.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this webinar, participants will:
- Have a greater understanding of some of the current applications of AI within clinical psychology, including digital note-taking, assessment tools, report‑writing support, symptom monitoring, and client-facing AI systems used between sessions.
- Have a greater understanding of the potential benefits of AI-assisted tools in psychological practice, such as improved efficiency, reduced administrative burden, enhanced consistency, and insights derived from large clinical datasets.
- Identify key risks, limitations, and ethical considerations associated with AI in mental health settings, including issues relating to privacy, confidentiality, data security, transparency, and potential algorithmic bias.
- Have an appreciation go the difference between various commercially available AI tools (e.g., ANSTA, Heidi, Novonote) and understand their roles, features, and constraints within different stages of the therapeutic process.
