APS Branch
Overview
The APS Outer Eastern Melbourne Branch is pleased to invite all members and beyond to a fullday in-person workshop featuring Tania Kalkidis and building on the highly successful four-part webinar series we hosted in 2025.
This workshop offers a deeper dive into psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches to therapy. Moving beyond theory, the workshop emphasizes clinical application, helping therapists integrate psychodynamic principles with attachment-focused skills in real-world practice. Through experiential exercises, case discussions, and live demonstrations, participants will explore how unconscious processes, transference, and countertransference dynamics intersect with attachment patterns in the therapeutic encounter. The focus will be on cultivating therapeutic presence, deepening relational attunement, and using the therapist–client relationship as a secure base for growth and healing.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:
- Apply psychodynamic concepts such as transference, countertransference, and unconscious communication to attachment-focused clinical work.
- Develop practical skills for working with clients’ attachment styles in the here-and-now of the therapeutic relationship.
- Strengthen the therapist’s capacity for attunement, regulation, and use of self as a secure base to support client transformation.
