Webinar (Live) Event

What is Trauma? The Neurobiological Underpinning of Client Presentations

Overview

Why do clients with trauma sometimes struggle to think clearly, become overwhelmed by seemingly small triggers, or suddenly disconnect during therapy? What is actually happening in the brain and nervous system, and how can understanding these processes help us become more effective clinicians?

Join experienced psychologist Lucy Wise as she explores the neurobiological foundations of trauma and how these changes shape the way our clients think, feel, behave and engage in therapy. Drawing on current evidence and clinical experience, Lucy will unpack the neurophysiological changes associated with trauma and PTSD, translating complex neuroscience into practical knowledge that can be applied immediately in clinical practice.

This session will also explore what is happening "in the room" during therapy. From heightened arousal and emotional flooding to dissociation and difficulties with engagement, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how trauma responses can emerge during assessment and treatment, and how clinicians can respond in ways that promote safety, regulation and therapeutic progress.

Whether you work exclusively with trauma or simply want to better understand the clients who walk through your door, this webinar will provide an accessible and clinically relevant foundation for understanding trauma through a neurobiological lens.

Join us for an engaging evening of learning, discussion and practical insights that will enhance your understanding of trauma and strengthen your clinical practice.
