Overview
Eating disorders are common, serious mental health conditions, yet many people with eating disorders remain undiagnosed and/or experience significant delays in accessing appropriate care. This presentation will provide psychologists with a brief overview of eating disorders, warning signs, and screening approaches suitable for routine clinical practice. It will assist participants to identify clients who may benefit from further assessment, understand current referral pathways and treatment options, and develop confidence in having sensitive conversations about eating, body image, and weight-related concerns.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:

Professor Leah Brennan
About the presenter(s)
Professor of Psychology at La Trobe University, and Director and Principal Psychologist of the Centre for Eating, Weight and Body Image. She has over 20 years of experience in eating disorder research, treatment, training, and supervision, and has authored more than 125 peer-reviewed publications in the field. Leah is committed to improving access to evidence-based eating disorder care, particularly in regional and rural communities.

Target Audience
This event is aimed at mental health professionals who do not have experience working with eating disorders.
