The University of Glasgow model for Suicide Prevention: Applications and Efficacy

Overview

The ACT Branch Committee is pleased to invite members to an upcoming event about the University of Glasgow's model for suicide prevention, focusing on its applications and efficacy. This event features a 30-minute presentation followed by a 30-minute Q&A session. Attendees will learn about the model's use in remote Aboriginal communities, hear examples from the presenter's lived experience, and examine its effectiveness in various contexts, including schools and family settings. This event aims to provide valuable insights and practical knowledge for implementing the model in diverse environments.

This is a hybrid event. For those attending in person, please see below(notes) for the schedule for in-person networking before and after the event.

Professor Nadira Pardo

About the presenter(s)

Prof. Nadira Pardo, PhD, is a Full Member of the APS and current Chair of the ACT Branch and is an Honorary Full Professor of Psychology and Business, currently affiliated with the UNSW. She has taught, supervised or practiced in the field of Psychology for 35 years in 30 countries, publishing over 250 academic journal articles and conference papers, including 48 books, with a best-selling McGraw-Hill textbook adopted by all universities in Australia and New Zealand, she is best known for her research in Behavioural Economics and Consumer Psychology consulting globally for Fortune 500 companies. As a former University Dean, and member of the Clinical College, she has developed Psychology curricula, for both undergraduate and post-graduate programs and managed international accreditation of those degrees in many countries, with a global impact on our profession.

Notes

Registration includes light refreshments for in person and access to the recording for 90 days after the live event.
For in-person attendees, there is free parking on Cowlishaw St. The entrance to the college is through the main entrance (on Cowlishaw St, adjacent to Pitman St).
