APS College
Overview
This event will explore the 6 Ps x 8 Domains. The event will be held at 7-8:30pm AEDT. Please note the CCN-Vic AGM will be held after this event. If you are interested in only attending the AGM and not the professional development event, please email [email protected] directly for the link.
About the event: The 6 Ps × 8 Domains is a decolonising case formulation matrix that expands the traditional 5Ps and the Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) framework by centring relationality, power, trauma, lived experience context and wellbeing determinants. It shifts formulations and treatment from only individual pathology and processes to include relational, context sensitive, rights based understandings. The matrix directly engages PsyBA and AHPRA Competency 8 and Principle 2 of the Code of Conduct, supporting culturally responsive, trauma informed and accountable neuropsychological practice.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand how Euro Western neuro/psychology’s narrow lens pathologises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander distress by divorcing individuals from their temporal, geopolitical, cultural and relational contexts.
- Critically reflect on the limitations of the 5Ps of case conceptualisation. 3. Examine the 6Ps × 8 Domains matrix and its application to the development of culturally informed, decolonising neuro/psychological formulations that centre power, lived experience context, relational connection, and the domains of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing framework (SEWB).
- Appreciate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander relational processes and their potential to transform formulation from a diagnostic extraction into a collaborative, rights based, meaning making practice grounded in Indigenous epistemologies.
