The Australian Psychological Society (APS) commended the Government's commitment to aged care reform to improve protections and support the delivery of quality and safe care for older Australians. The APS welcomed the opportunity to provide feedback to the Department of Health and Ageing about the proposed new model for regulating aged care in Australia.
In the submission, the APS noted that there is sparse detail provided in the consultation paper about key aspects of the proposed new model for regulating aged care. We identified four key recommendations to guide the next stages of the development of the new aged care regulation model and associated work:
