Submission to NDIS on Access and the Eligibility Policy with independent assessments

The APS has provided a response to the NDIS Consultation Paper: Access and Eligibility Policy with independent assessments released in November 2020. 

In this submission, the APS recommends that the NDIS takes necessary steps to:

• Clarify and strengthen the process of how functional capacity will be measured
• Ensure appropriately developed measures of participation and adaptive skill
• Introduce authentic and comprehensive assessments of the individual, their environments and support system conducted by appropriately qualified psychologists 
• Provide clear information for participants, in accessible formats, about eligibility criteria and processes, including the relationship between diagnosis, screening, monitoring, progress and outcomes.
