Submission to Public Consultation into Online Safety for Children

This document is a submission by the APS made in 2015 to the Department of Communications Enhancing Online Safety for Children: Public Consultation.

In the submission, the APS draws on available evidence as it relates to online safety among children and young people. The APS submission acknowledges that online harm is a significant individual, community and public health issue.

The APS commends the government for its focus on reducing harm to children and young people, but expresses reservations about using a solely legal framework to address what is a complex psychological and social issue.
