Submission to Royal Commission: Advocacy and support services

This 2015 submission is the APS response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, Issues Paper 10: Advocacy and Support and Therapeutic Treatment Services.

Given the contention around the relative efficacy of different approaches to treating complex trauma, the APS recommends commissioning an independent and systematic review of the literature.

This submission focuses on therapeutic treatment services aimed at reducing the signs and symptoms of poor psychological health in victims/survivors and improving their wellbeing and quality of life. The submission addresses both current best practice in treatment services and ways to improve those services.
