Community psychologists

Community psychologists specialise in helping communities such as migrant groups, and rural and remote communities.

We listen and learn from communities to identify key influencers and social networks, and devise community-led programs to resolve issues, manage change and address risks and threats.

Community psychologists help vulnerable groups to build resilience and strengthen social support networks as well as understand the social impacts of environmental issues, especially in remote and rural communities.

To empower communities, community psychologists conduct community-focused psycho-social research to assess needs and inform public policy development. We also educate community champions in consultation skills, negotiation and mediation and attitudinal change.
