Vale Mrs Karen Frances Jones MAPS

Prepared by David Jones, Husband of Karen Frances Jones.

Karen was a clinical and developmental psychologist, who commenced her career at Adelaide Children’s Hospital in January 1977 one day per week; undertaking intensive home-based behaviour programs for severe conduct problems & diurnal enuresis conducted via home & school visits.

The lure of the hospital, colleagues and diversity of clinical work saw her complete stints of work with the hospital from November 1977 – June 1983 as well as sessional and locum work in the Department of Psychiatry and CAMHS between 1988 and 1997.  Karen returned part-time to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital's Child Development Unit in May 2003, and continued there until her retirement, forced upon her by cancer, in July 2022.

Karen also was in private practice since 2003, working with children on a variety of developmental and educational issues, and specialising in autism spectrum disorders.

Karen had a special affinity with children and she loved working with them - children felt safe with her.

Karen passed away on 21 August 2022.
