APS Outstanding Accredited Supervisor Award

To acknowledge the crucial and valuable work performed by psychologists who supervise provisional psychologists on their pathway to becoming a general registered psychologist.
The Supervisor Award recognises APS members with PsyBA accredited supervisor status who have excelled at supervising provisional psychologists to general registration. 

Eligibility criteria

  1. Candidates must have been supervising for at least five years in Australia. 
  2. Candidates must have supervised at least five people to General registration in the preceding 5 years from when the applications close.
  3. Candidates must at least hold the grade of Member, Fellow or Honorary Fellow of the APS

Judging criteria

  1. Applicants must demonstrate how the supervisor:
    1. put into place effective supervision practice – e.g., goal setting, learning processes, techniques
    2. managed the supervisory relationship through its developmental stages
    3. assessed the psychological competencies of the supervisee
    4. incorporated supervisee feedback to the supervision process
    5. evaluated the supervisory process
    6. resolved any conflictual episodes; and
    7. must include names of at least 5 supervisees and their registration numbers
    8. any other relevant information.
  2. Criteria for substantial contribution could include:
    1. contributing to the creation of supervisor relevant CPD 
    2. innovative approaches to the theory and practice of supervision
    3. outstanding service as an accredited supervisor
  3. The supervisee must submit a one page summary of their experience being supervised by the nominee explaining why it was so effective and state their psychologist registration number and the date they gained general registration.

Value of the Award

The successful nominee will receive:

  1. $1500 Cheque 
  2. Travel Package to a APS Conference (Inclusive of Conference Registration, Accommodation and flights)

The winner will be announced at the APS Awards event each year, and a video interview will be posted on the APS Website and shared across other media channels.

Nomination process

  1. A call for nominations will be advertised across relevant APS publications and media
  2. Nominations should be submitted using the online nomination form. Please note self-nominations cannot be accepted.
  3. The APS Awards Committee will be responsible for determining an appropriate candidate for receipt of the award.
