Submission to Senate Inquiry into personal choice and community impacts

This 2015 submission to the Senate Economics References Committee Inquiry into personal choice and community impacts outlines how psychology can assist in striking an evidence-based balance between notions of individual liberty, personal choice and 'nanny state' concerns on one hand, and a whole of community approach to prevention and health promotion on the other.

The APS recommends that any measures introduced to restrict personal choice are informed by clear evidence and take into consideration the complex interplay of individual freedom and public health gains.
