Nominations are now open for the 2012 College awards in the areas outlined below. Refer to the APS website for further information on each award, including eligibility and nomination process details (www.psychology.org.au/about/awards/). The closing date for nominations for all College awards is 31 July 2012.
APS College Awards of Distinction
The Award is bestowed on a senior member of each APS College each year. It recognises the importance of an individual’s contribution to his or her specialist field and significant contribution to the relevant APS College over a number of years.
College of Clinical Neuropsychologists
Genevieve Heath Memorial Student Travel Award
The Award supports the attendance of student members of the College’s Queensland section at a neuropsychology conference held either nationally or internationally.
College of Clinical Psychologists
Alistair Heron Award
The Award recognises applied research of exceptional quality in the area of normal adult ageing or age-related dementias or for excellence in the psychological treatment of problems among older people.
Ian M. Campbell Memorial Prize
The Prize is awarded to an APS member who has made an outstanding contribution to the scientific or professional status of clinical psychology in Australia, in the areas of research, therapy and/or social applicability.
Student Prize
The Prize is offered at each university with an accredited postgraduate clinical psychology program and acknowledges students who demonstrate high levels of clinical skill and the ability to design and conduct clinically relevant research.
SA Section Prize
The Prize is awarded to the overall best student completing the Master of Clinical Psychology at each South Australian university.
College of Community Psychologists
Robin Winkler Award
The Award recognises excellence in a research project in the field of community psychology.
College of Counselling Psychologists
Doctoral Award
The Award recognises the overall best student completing an APAC-accredited Doctoral program in counselling psychology at an Australian tertiary institution.
Susanna Richardson Award
The Award recognises the overall best student completing an APAC-accredited Masters program in counselling psychology at an Australian tertiary institution.
College of Forensic Psychologists
Maconochie Prize
The Prize rewards outstanding forensic psychology research by students who attain publication of an article in a refereed journal based on his/her Honours, Masters or Doctoral thesis.
NSW Section Annual Awards
The Awards recognise excellence in forensic psychology in the following three categories:
- Open category for contribution to forensic psychology,
- e.g., media personnel, legal professionals
- Psychological practice and professional work
- Research and academic work
College of Health Psychologists
Award for Excellent Higher Degree Thesis
The Award recognises outstanding student research in health psychology and is offered at each Australian tertiary institution with an accredited Doctoral program in health psychology.
Award for Excellent Masters Thesis
The Award recognises outstanding student research in health psychology and is offered at each Australian tertiary institution with accredited Masters program in health psychology.
Award for Excellent Honours Thesis
The Award recognises outstanding student research in health psychology and is offered at each Australian tertiary institution with an accredited Honours program.
College of Organisational Psychologists
SA Highest Academic Performance of a Masters Student Award
The award recognises outstanding performance and is available to eligible students from each university in South Australia offering an accredited Masters degree in organisational psychology.
College of Sport and Exercise Psychologists
Student Award
The Award recognises students demonstrating the highest levels of applied skills and academic achievement at each university with an accredited postgraduate sport and exercise psychology program.
Best Student Presentation Prizes
The Prizes recognise the best postgraduate student
presentation at two nominated sport and exercise psychology conferences annually.
