Vale Mr Andrew Wu

Andrew Wu - In Memoriam

It is with profound sadness to report Andrew’s passing on 25/11/25 after a 2yr battle with pancreatic cancer. He was my loving partner of 43 years, a loving father and grandfather.

Andrew’s contribution to psychology has been written by his very close colleague, Dr Connie Henson MAPS.

Andrew's contribution to psychology was reflected not only in his work with clients, but also in the way he practised the profession itself. He combined a deep understanding of psychological theory, behaviour change, emotional regulation and resilience with genuine compassion and respect for people.

While highly knowledgeable and skilled, he never allowed technique to overshadow the importance of relationship, empathy and human connection.

Andrew worked from a strengths-based perspective, helping individuals, teams and organisations recognise their capacities and build the confidence to face challenges, uncertainty and self-doubt. He had a particular ability to help people navigate difficult conversations and conflict constructively, often transforming tension into opportunities for growth, resilience and stronger relationships.

He was also deeply committed to his own professional development. A thoughtful and courageous practitioner, Andrew continually sought to learn, reflect and improve his practice. He generously shared his knowledge and wisdom with colleagues, contributing greatly through peer supervision, mentoring and professional conversations.

Many psychologists benefited from his insight, encouragement and willingness to support others in their work.

Andrew's legacy is found not only in the clients he helped, but also in the many professionals whose practice was strengthened through knowing and working with him. He exemplified a psychology that was both intellectually rigorous and profoundly humane.
