I have had a deep interest in human psychology and behaviour my whole life. I have wanted to make sense of life and help others do the same. I'm fascinated by the human mind and how its biggest strengths (eg. problem-solving, pattern-recognition, attachment) can also be its biggest weaknesses (anxiety, depression, cognitive biases, self-deception, etc). Put simply, evolution (the process that shaped our brains) cares about survival and reproduction first, and our happiness a distant second. But we care about being happy (!) and so there is an inbuilt tension inside all of us. We are in conflict with ourselves. This makes suffering, anxiety, and confusion more or less inevitable.
While formally trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, I also have an interest in psychodynamic approaches. Check out my website to see more of how I work and think.
