I work with depression, anxiety disorders, addictions, anger, trauma, relationships, male psychosexual difficulties and sexuality. I identify as a gay man and specialise in working with LGBTQ+ clients with an identity affirming perspective.
I completed my doctorate in clinical psychology at University College London in 2003, where I trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT: the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours) and schema therapy (linking your past to your beliefs and present difficulties). I am also a qualified dialectical behaviour therapist (DBT: a skills-based approach for emotional regulation).
My main approach today is acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT): a mindfulness approach for letting go of unhelpful thoughts, being present with difficult emotions and connecting to your values; the things that really matter to you. I combine CBT, schema therapy, DBT and ACT with supportive counselling, where relevant, to the issues you wish to work on.
