Sexuality in late life- understanding rights and responsibilities of aged care residents

Organiser Banner

Overview

The APS hosts this webinar with the APS Psychology and Ageing Interest Group (PAIG).

Sexuality in late life is a topic rarely discussed, yet is a basic human need. Elders residing in residential care, with often declining physical health and cognitive changes, are particularly vulnerable to having their sexual needs ignored. More often than not the only time many long-term residential care facilities address sexuality, is when there is a "problem".

The aim of this activity is to address sexuality in late life from the wellbeing perspective, and consider the impact of dementia, environment, and staff, as well as family attitudes on this topic.

Level of Learning

Intermediate. This activity is targeted to those who have some previous learning on the topic.

Duration of access

Access to the recording and presenter slides is for 12 months from the date of confirmed registration.
