Overview

Phoenix Australia has developed a suite of four CPD Approved integrated courses designed to support practitioners to extend their knowledge and skills in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD):

  1. Understanding PTSD,

  2. Assessment, Formulation, and Treatment Planning for PTSD,

  3. Understanding Trauma-Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and

  4. Implementing Trauma-Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

About the series

This eLearning self-paced series enables psychologists to extend existing knowledge and skill in the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to the effective treatment of clients with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Trauma-focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based approach to the treatment of children, adolescents, and adults experiencing clinically relevant post-traumatic stress symptoms.

It helps individuals come to terms with trauma through exposure to, and emotional processing of, memories of the event.

The approach incorporates involvement of significant others, engagement and stabilisation strategies, psychoeducation, imaginal and in-vivo exposure therapy, and trauma-focussed cognitive therapy, with each component of treatment adapted to the age and developmental stage of the client.

Refer to 'Related activities' below for details and to enrol into the other activities within this series.

Understanding Trauma-Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

This is the third activity in the series and it provides psychologists with a thorough understanding of each of the common components of this evidence-based treatment. It also uses strategies to adapt components of treatment to the age and developmental stage of the individual.
