Mandatory reporting refers to the legal requirement of certain professional groups, including psychologists, to report a reasonable belief of child physical or sexual abuse to child protection authorities. Although primarily related to children, it can also apply to adults, if the person involved is living in a residential service. This webinar will cover the laws around who is required to report, and the circumstances that differ between the Australian States and Territories.

Duration of access

Michael Gorton AM is a senior partner at Russell Kennedy Lawyers.
He has over 25 years experience, advising the health and medical sector on all aspects of commercial law, assisting boards of health organisations to understand their legal obligations for effective governance structures, governance policies and implementing risk management strategies.
He is the Chair of Alfred Health. a Board member of Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) and Board member of Ambulance Victoria.
He is a former Chair of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission.
