On-demand Event

Using a process-based approach to create change with adults

Organiser Banner

Overview

The APS hosts this webinar with the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.

Recent advances in CBT and ACT have merged into a new processed-based therapy paradigm. This paradigm allows clinicians to move beyond packaged protocols that rarely fit our clients in a manualised format and instead gives us the ability to look at our clients' lives through the lens of function and process.

Function refers to understanding behaviour, thoughts and feelings in the context of learning history and workability, which gives clinicians places to intervene and create change.

Process refers to empirically supported psychological aspects that can facilitate change, such as exposure, acceptance, motivation, and emotion regulation.

This webinar will:

  • share a clear and applied process-based framework that can be used with clients' self-beliefs,

  • help clients understand their learning history, how they conceptualise themselves, how to carry their history, and how to create more flexible vital lives, and

  • show how to develop therapeutic actions to help clients see themselves in new ways and engage in live affirming actions.
