Psychologists as expert witnesses: The fundamentals

Organiser Banner

Overview

This webinar introduces psychologists to key elements related to the provision of evidence to court and is designed for psychologists who are called by the court to give evidence (as distinguished from forensic psychologists who, as a function of their role undertake specialised assessments, write reports, and respond to questions posed by the courts).

NOTE: This training offers guidance at an introductory level, to equip those psychologists who are required by the court to give evidence; it does not equip participants to undertake the role of the expert witness as an ongoing element of their professional portfolio.

This webinar will cover:

  • approaches to report writing for psychologists as expert witnesses in legal proceedings, and

  • giving testimony in court, and particularly cross-examination.
