The College of Clinical Psychologists (WA) Significant Contribution Award is granted annually to a member of the WA Section of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists who has made a significant contribution to clinical psychology. The Award seeks to promote and encourage excellence in clinical psychology and to reward and encourage clinical psychologists for their substantial contribution in the areas of assessment and treatment, education, research, community education, training/supervision, mentoring, advocacy, and/or service development.
Administration
- The College of Clinical Psychologists (WA Section) is responsible for administering the Award and for funding of the Award.
- The Committee for the College of Clinical Psychologists (WA Section) will appoint a selection committee of three (3) members of the Executive and two invited nominees to confidentially assess all applications prior to making a recommendation to the WA Section of the College of Clinical Psychologists Committee for subsequent approval by the APS Board of Directors.
- Once the winner has been approved by the APS Board, the Award will be presented at the following Gala Dinner of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists (WA Section), and the prize winner will be invited to make a brief presentation at that event on their clinical work or on another topic relevant to their work in clinical psychology.
Eligibility
- Nominees must be current Members of the College of Clinical Psychologists (WA Section), or if are not a member at the time of nomination, must be willing to join the College within 1 week of being notified that their nomination was successful.
Nomination Process
- The WA Section of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists will seek nominations from WA members using APS communication channels.
- Nominations will be submitted to the APS Member Groups Administrator (College) at the National Office using the nomination form, click here.
- Nominees can self-nominate or be nominated by another member of the College of Clinical Psychologists.
- Nominations should comprise of: (1) The nominees CV (5 pages maximum); (2) A summary statement (500 words maximum) about how the nominee meets the selection criteria in terms of having made a substantial contribution to clinical psychology.
Selection Criteria
In judging the nominations for the award, the selection committee will consider the substantial contribution to clinical psychology in the areas of:
- assessment and treatment;
- education;
- research;
- community education;
- training / supervision;
- mentoring;
- advocacy; and / or
- service development.
Value of the Award
The successful candidate of the Award will:
- Be presented with a certificate;
- Receive an award of $1000.
