Creative Ways to Help Children Manage Emotions: A Practical Workshop for Therapists

Overview

A hands-on workshop for therapists who work with preschool and primary children and their families 

Learn a range of practical ideas for helping children to understand and manage strong emotions such as anxiety, anger and sadness. This full-day workshop explores developmental and practical considerations in working therapeutically with children and families. Participants learn over 20 new fun and engaging therapy activities to use straight away in their practice.

 

Who this workshop is for -

  • Psychologists, provisional psychologists, social workers, OTs, counsellors, mental health clinicians and other therapists working with preschool or primary aged children and their families.
  • Therapists who are new to working with children, as well as more experienced child and family therapists. 
  • Therapists who have enjoyed our other workshops or online courses will enjoy this one too.

Dr Suzanne Barrett and Dr Fiona Zandt, Clinical Psychologists

About the presenter(s)

Dr Fiona Zandt and Dr Suzanne Barrett are both experienced Clinical Psychologists who work exclusively with children, adolescents, and families. Their approach integrates a number of theoretical frameworks, drawing heavily on ACT, DBT and CBT, while utilising developmentally appropriate playful strategies. They emphasise working with families and have a strong systemic focus.

Fiona and Suzanne have over 40 years combined experience in working with children and families in a range of settings, including the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne, child and adolescent mental health service teams, and private practice. Together, they authored the acclaimed Creative Ways book series for therapists working with children and families.

Fiona and Suzanne are co-founders of Creative Child Therapy Workshops, and have enjoyed developing and facilitating professional training workshops for therapists together since 2014.
