Overview

This webinar is designed to support psychologists who see clients that are taking, or considering taking, weight loss medications (WLMs) .

It will cover:

  • the psychology of supporting people who live in larger bodies, including mental health considerations and weight stigma,
  • practical considerations for counselling clients taking weight loss medications in a way that supports optimal intervention outcomes and reduces intervention risks, and
  • the importance of interdisciplinary care and developing working referral pathways.

Level of Learning

Foundational. This activity is targeted to those who are new to the topic.

Duration of access

Access to the recording and presenter slides is for 12 months from the date of confirmed registration.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this on-demand activity, participants should be able to:

  • describe mental health considerations and weight stigma when supporting people living in larger bodies,

  • recognise Weight Loss Medications (WLMs) and understand how to support clients taking WLMs to optimise outcomes and minimise risks, and

  • recognise how to work collaboratively with medical and other allied health practitioners supporting clients taking WLMs and develop effective interdisciplinary teams.
