Overview
The APS hosts this webinar with the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.
This webinar aims to equip psychologists with foundational knowledge about AI and its practical applications in their field. It will cover three key areas:
- introduction to AI and its relevance in psychology,
- demonstration of AI tools that can improve efficiency in tasks like documentation and to help individualise treatment for clients, and
- responsible AI use, focusing on consent, confidentiality, quality of information, potential biases, and addressing AI-generated errors or 'hallucinations.'
Participants will be provided with practical insights, a checklist for responsible AI use, PowerPoint slides, and an AI consent form to support ethical AI implementation in their practice.
This education is relevant to psychologists, who often face heavy workloads with extensive report writing and administration. AI tools can alleviate some of these pressures by improving efficiency, allowing more time for client care and enhancing service quality. Additionally, AI can support improved treatment for clients, enabling psychologists to better address unique client needs. An AI application will be provided for research purposes.
The webinar will also emphasise the responsible use of AI, covering data confidentiality, consent, and managing the quality and reliability of AI-generated information—essential for upholding ethical standards in clinical practice.
