Submission to the Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry into Perinatal Services

This document is a submission made in 2017 by the APS to the Victorian Government relating to their inquiry into perinatal services.

This submission identified the importance of recognising the perinatal period as one where women are often vulnerable and high quality, multidisciplinary perinatal services are essential. The APS recommends adopting a social determinants of health approach which considers the influence of broader societal, economic and political factors, including the way perinatal health services are structured and organised, and how women experience these services.
