Ashley is a Waywurru woman who grew up and currently resides in Melbourne. She completed a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Business (Management) and went on to further complete an honours year in psychology at Monash University. Ashley is currently undertaking a Master of Psychology in the field of Clinical Psychology at the University of Melbourne.
Ashley is in the first year of her masters training and intends to work in a clinical capacity with the Victorian Aboriginal community once graduated. Through practice as an Aboriginal psychologist, Ashley plans to offer clients a holistic social and emotional well-being focused treatment which recognises the significant cultural underpinnings impacting on one’s health. Ashley also aspires to complete a PhD in the future to further foster the development of her research skills. Once established as a researcher, she would like to provide research supervision to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander psychology students. Ashley believes this will allow Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to undertake research within their communities on topics that provide direct benefit to their own community.
Ashley currently works as the Program Coordinator for a newly established “Indigenous Leaders Program” at Monash University. This program seeks to develop leadership capabilities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander undergraduate students.
