The Deputy Mayor of Strathbogie Shire, Claire Ewart-Kennedy, is seeking psychologists who can offer pro bono or bulk-billed psychological support to children and families affected by the recent Longwood and surrounding fires.
This support could include psychological first aid and trauma-informed counselling delivered via telehealth, to help families manage the immediate and ongoing impacts of the fires.
The request is community-facing and focused on supporting children and families directly.
In response, members who are willing and able to offer this kind of support can email: [email protected] and we will forward your name and contact details to Strathbogie Shire Council.
This would allow local government to connect affected families with psychologists who have chosen to make themselves available.
It’s important to note that this is separate from the APS Disaster Response Network.
The DRN is designed to support frontline workers and volunteers before, during and after disasters and collective trauma events. This request relates specifically to care for community members impacted by the recent fires in Victoria.
