Every day, psychologists change lives, often in ways most people never see.
Sometimes it's through a single conversation. Sometimes it's through years of research, advocacy or support.
Whatever the setting, psychology changes lives - that's worth highlighting, and it’s worth celebrating!
That's why I'm pleased to announce that Psychology Week 2026 will take place from 16 to 22 November.
This year's theme, Psychology in action: how psychology changes lives, shines a light on the difference psychologists make every day. It's an opportunity to celebrate our profession, recognise the impact psychology has across our communities and help more people understand the important role psychologists have in improving and sometimes even saving lives.
Psychology Week isn't about asking you to do more. It's an invitation to be part of something bigger. Whether you choose to attend an event, connect with colleagues, showcase your work or simply take a moment to celebrate the profession, I hope you'll join us in whatever way feels right for you.
To support that, we'll be providing you with resources to help you run local events, networking opportunities and professional showcases. Throughout the week, we'll also be promoting psychology more broadly, highlighting the contribution of psychology professionals and the difference they make to government, stakeholders and the wider community.
One of the highlights of the week this year will be the announcement of winners of the 2026 APS Awards. Traditionally we have announced the awards at the AGM, however by moving the awards announcement into Psychology Week, we're hoping to create a dedicated opportunity to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our colleagues, and to showcase the very best of our profession.
More details will follow in the coming months, but for now, I encourage you to save the date and start thinking about how you and your colleagues might like to be involved.
Whether your contribution is large or small, every event, every conversation and every shared story helps build a stronger understanding of psychology and the difference it makes.
I look forward to celebrating Psychology Week with you.
