We are proud to share that three of our members have been recognised in the Australia Day Honours List, as announced by the Governor-General.
Such recognition highlights the importance of the psychology profession and pays tribute to the tireless work by those in our field.
Mrs Berindah Anak Aicken PSM MAPS from New South Wales has been awarded the Public Service Medal (PSM) for outstanding public service to NSW Corrective Services. Mrs Aicken is a forensic psychologist who has dedicated her career to service and program provision for people in custody and has been a member of the APS for more than 23 years.
Ms Christabel Marguerite Chamarette OAM MAPS from Western Australia has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division for service to community health, particularly as a psychologist. Ms Chamarette is the Clinical Director at SafeCare and has been a member of the APS for more than 35 years.
The late Emeritus Professor Joseph Henry Graffam AM MAPS from Victoria has been appointed as an (Honorary) Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to tertiary education, and to social welfare organisations. Professor Graffam was a former Board Director at WISE Global Foundation and a member of the APS for more than 37 years.
