Australian Psychological Society investigating cyber incident

The Australian Psychological Society (APS) is currently investigating a cyber incident involving an unauthorised party accessing part of our system.

As soon as we identified the issue, we took immediate steps to commence containment and engaged external cyber security and forensic specialists to support our investigation and response.

As part of our response, member logins to the APS website have been temporarily suspended while we perform the necessary security checks. All other services will continue as usual at this stage.

Our investigation remains ongoing as we work with external specialists to understand the nature and scope of the incident, and ensure all appropriate steps are taken.

It is important to note that as part of its standard practices, APS does not collect or store any bank account or payment details related to its members. Similarly, we do not hold or carry any client information. At this stage, we are confident these types of information have not been impacted by this incident.

Should our investigation determine that any personal information has been involved, we will contact relevant individuals directly to provide guidance and support. We will also ensure steps are taken to notify relevant government bodies and regulators as necessary and in line with our obligations.

We thank our members and community for their patience and understanding as we work through our response.

We will provide further updates where appropriate and as the investigation progresses.
