Assessment

In order to reach a diagnosis of dementia, specialised assessments are needed, and might involve a number of health professionals, including GPs, geriatricians, neuropsychologists, psychologists and psychiatrists. Blood tests, neuropsychological testing, a thorough personal and family history, and a detailed clinical interview may all be part of a dementia assessment. Specialist neurological neuroimaging might also be used to confirm a diagnosis.
