Parenting after separation

Despite separation becoming much more common for Australian families, it can still represent a major life stressor for the people involved.

This information sheet provides advice for parents around how to make separation less stressful for all concerned, especially children. In general, the things that help children’s wellbeing following separation are the same things that work in any family: good quality parenting, supportive relationships  with parents, low conflict between the child’s parents and good communication.
