Understanding allied health approaches to sleep disorders in children with neurodisability

Closes 31 August 2026

Our research team at The University of Queensland is currently conducting a study exploring the assessment and management of sleep problems in children with neurodisability, from the perspective of allied health clinicians. Sleep difficulties are highly prevalent and persistent in this population, yet clinicians often report limited access to evidence-based resources and coordinated care pathways.

The aim of this project to better understand the current practices, challenges, and support needs for the assessment and management of sleep problems for allied health clinicians (both within hospital and community settings), with the goal of informing more coordinated, evidence-based approaches to sleep care. These insights will play a fundamental role in shaping future sleep management guidelines and development of new community models of care to improve access to specialised sleep management advice for families and clinicians.

We are seeking psychologists who work with children with neurodisability. Participation involves completing a brief online survey (approximately 10–15 minutes). Clinicians can access the survey and further information via the "Start the survey" link below.
